Continuing Education

Please note: this class was formerly called ‘The Art of Storytelling” and was taught previously under that title.

Many writers follow formulas and rules and then wait in line, but good stories are hardly elevated by doing things the way everybody else is. Come learn about the invisible parts of what makes a story and how those aspects relate to one another — they’re what matters most. From there, you will be able to practice dancing with your authentic voice while falling in love with the process of writing things in a way that only you can. Let’s think about stories in a new way, approach them from a different perspective, and fully connect with what we want to say because stories are glimpses into life, and that’s what storytellers do — create real life.

The following topics will be covered in this course:

  • What is a Story?
  • Elements of Story
  • Group Exercise
  • Writing Exercise
  • Collaboration and Feedback
