Post-Production Professional Workflow

This course provides a comprehensive exploration of the filmmaking workflow detailing the sequence of steps involved in producing high-quality media. Participants will learn to develop and evaluate workflows with a balance between technology and personnel management while learning to optimize artistic tools to complete their final product. Key components of this class include creating workflow maps, discussing how to adhere to standard operating procedures, and sharing strategies for implementing best practices to address potential challenges.

The course covers all filmmaking stages: pre-production, production, post-production, finishing, and delivery. Participants will gain insights into managing sound and picture quality, utilizing Look-Up Tables (LUTs), and ensuring proper data management throughout their projects. With discussions around practical applications, troubleshooting, and resources for continuous learning, this course prepares students to feel comfortable navigating the complexities of modern digital workflows.

About the Instructor:

Andrew Richey holds an MFA in cinematic arts from USC and a BFA in theater directing from Southwestern University. He has worked across three continents in entertainment for over two decades. His credits include FIG (dir. Ryan Coogler); CODE BLACK, a documentary turned hour-long drama by CBS; and VOYAGE OF TIME (dir. Terrence Malick). His work includes fiction, non-fiction features, and commercials, and he has delivered to a range of clients including CBS, Showtime, HBO, and IMAX.
