An intermediate lighting class that focuses on how professional cinematographers design cinematic lighting for storytelling, from 4-point lighting and beyond. It will include discussions about the realities of lighting on professional sets, as well as light intensity, direction, color, and shadow quality. The class is designed to gives insight on how pro cinematographers approach, plan, and carry out creative lighting for different projects.
ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR
After graduating from UCLA’s MFA Cinematography program in 2013, award-winning cinematographer Ángel Granados served for four years as an in-house cinematographer, editor, and producer for the American Society of Cinematographers and American Cinematographer Magazine. Ángel has directed and photographed a variety of award-winning projects including narrative features and shorts, documentaries, and commercials. His film work has taken him to five continents around the globe and his films have screened in a number of international festivals. Ángel has taught a diverse array of students throughout his career. He currently serves as a lecturer for the MFA program at UCLA Department of Film, Television, and Digital Media, and at Austin Community College Department of Radio, TV, Film.
