AFS is excited to present a new Documentary Producing Fundamentals series, which includes three classes taught by local Emmy-winning and Producer’s Guild Award nominated Producer, Megan Gilbride (TOWER, SUNSHINE, WHERE SOLDIERS COME FROM).

Join Emmy-winning and Producer’s Guild Award nominated Producer Megan Gilbride as she discusses the current state of documentary distribution. The class will cover the basics of distribution, what distribution outlets are available for documentary producers, how distribution deals work, what role festivals play in documentary distribution, and what how to create a distribution strategy that’s right for your film. We’ll discuss knowing your audience, marketing your project, and how to create demand for your film throughout its whole life – from conception to awards season. Whether you want to know how to distribute your film with a studio partner or DIY, this class will examine the different paths your film can take and what to expect along the way.
