Apichatpong Weerasethakul’s film about death and spiritual continuity frequently provokes profound responses in viewers. As our guest programmer, artist Jiab Prachakul, notes, “The audience is not asked to understand the linearity of things with logic. Uncle Boonmee’s journey through his last days becomes our own journey as well.”

Screening in conjunction with the exhibition “Jiab Prachakul: Sweet Solitude,” on display January 31–August 3, 2025, at The Contemporary Austin – Jones Center.

This project is supported in part by the City of Austin Economic Development Department.
