Wow! It’s great to be back home. I’m celebrating because I’ve just made a comfortable transition back to Austin from the great little town of Denton, TX, where I have finally put behind me that arduous trek of our early twenties, the college experience!

Now a BFA holder in studio photography, I was looking for a way dive right in when I returned home, and I found that ability with the privilege of the internship program at the Austin Film Society. I knew I had found the thing for me while searching through Austin’s rich community of visual artists, and speculating just how, exactly, I was going to apply my recent degree to a bustling city of entrepreneurs. Knowing that I had only just landed on the tip of the ice-burg that is film production, I am hoping to spend the next semester spelunking through the terrain and applying my love for film and photography to the right resources here at AFS.

I’m having a great time so far and considering the possibility of applying my self-professed writing skills to the production arena. Although my degree expects me to make my living with a camera in hand, I am actually just as interested in what’s going on behind the camera, styling, directing, and producing - a very large umbrella over my interests! Hopefully, by next semester, with the input from the glowing staff here at AFS, and a with a growing understanding of the life of a film production, on set and off, I'll be able to take my next professional steps in the industry!
