As a native of Los Angeles, California, I wisely chose to begin my career in film after moving to Austin, Texas. I actually found myself in Austin by way of stops in South Dakota, North Carolina, Virginia, England, and elsewhere in Texas and California. However, I have finally arrived here with my faithful terrier, ready to seek my fortune.

Though I love art of all types—visual, music, dance, theatre—film has always been the most accessible to me. As a child, I would read film and video guides like novels, memorizing titles and names, tucking them away until I had a chance to see the films. But while film has long been an interest of mine, I was never sure how to translate that passion into practical employment. After receiving my B.A. in Art History from Randolph-Macon Woman’s College, I worked at a golf course, playhouse, garden center, grocery store, and SCUBA equipment company.

I hope that my time with AFS will arm me with experience in the non-profit world and provide a taste of the local arts scene, which I can parlay into an arts-related job here in Austin. Of course this is all in preparation for my ultimate dream job, currently held by Robert Osborne, the host of Turner Classic Movies.
