A Moroccan father and his son set out on the haaj, the Muslim religious pilgrimage, from France to Mecca in an unreliable car. Rather secular in his views, 17-year-old Reda would prefer to remain at home to be with his girl friend and to complete his studies, but his stern father gives him no choice for the old man fears that this will be his last chance to see Mecca before he dies. Despite many difficulties and arguments along the way, the son begins to understand and appreciate his father much more. This is a different kind of road movie, one that has won several international awards for its director and principal actors.
