KRAMER. Williams was born in Houston and attended Brown University, honing her acting talents on the stage and in soap operas before moving into feature films in the late '70s. The 1982 horror classic POLTERGEIST made her one of the premier actresses of the decade, as did her deft performance in 1983’s THE BIG CHILL. Working over the years with directors such as Steven Spielberg, Robert Benton, Sidney Poitier, Blake Edwards and Lawrence Kasdan, Williams’ excellent timing and warm personality have also translated effectively to quality television shows such as Frasier, Law and Order and Judging Amy.
