Grant Application for the Texas Filmmakers' Production Fund

The 2009 Texas Filmmakers' Production Fund cycle will begin in the Spring of 2009. The 2008 TFPF grant recipients are listed here.

Below is information on eligibility for the 2008 grant cycle. For general information on the history of TFPF, and to see sample applications, click here.

2008 Eligibility and Restrictions

  • You must be a resident of Texas and have been a resident since June 2, 2007.
  • Application must be made by the creative author of the final work. This is typically defined as the director. Producers, editors, crew people, and writers who are not in creative control of the final project are not eligible to apply. Awards will not be made to organizations. The applicant name(s) will appear with the project on all publicity materials when TFPF 2008 recipients are announced.
  • All genres of film or video are given equal consideration. We are unable to consider multimedia projects at this time.
  • Projects must be independent productions. “Independent production” means a production under the artistic, budgetary and editorial control of the individual owning copyright. No consideration will be given to industrial or promotional pieces or “works-for-hire.”
  • Application must be for the production, post-production or distribution stages. No consideration will be given for applications requesting pre-production or development funds. Applicants requesting funds for distribution must provide footage from the submitted project in their video sample.
  • AFS staff, Board members and TFPF interns are ineligible to apply.
Previous TFPF recipients
  • TFPF grants a maximum of 2 awards to an individual project. That means you can potentially receive TFPF funding twice (in different years of course) for the same project, for the same or different stages of production.
  • Additionally, previous TFPF recipients are not eligible to apply for funding on a new project until the previous project is completed.

What’s New for 2008?
Each year we review and update our guidelines. Please note the following changes for this year’s grant cycle:

  • New deadline! Usually, the TFPF postmark deadline is June 1st, but that's a Sunday this year. The new postmark deadline is JUNE 2ND!
  • Alpha Cine Labs has come on as an in-kind sponsor. Now, in addition to requesting cash and Kodak film stock, you can also request up to $5,000 in services from Alpha Cine, a full service digital motion picture lab offering services ranging from 35mm, S16mm, 16mm, S8mm color, B&W, reversal processing, telecine, printing, color timing, digital to 35mm transfers, HD color correct and mastering.
