Presented by Kai Mantsch post-screening discussion moderated by Joanna Rabiger
In order to force him to confront the walls he places between himself and others, Logan Mirto convinces his friend Dicky Davies to spend a week sealed behind Plexiglas walls in a re-creation of a yuppie apartment. Placed at the center of a large arts festival, Dicky is bombarded by thousands of half-naked women, clowns, Elvis impersonators, drunken hecklers, musicians and a variety of fuzzy, multicolored bunnies. THE DICKY BOX follows Dicky's journey as he explores what it takes to reach past his walls and make genuine connections with the people outside. Kai Mantsch has been working in independent film for more than ten years. He has spent months on remote Texas ranch land working in high winds and 100 degree heat. He has crouched for hours in tin covered, toaster-oven attics. He has waited overnight in cold fog for penguins to emerge from hiding. Rain, dust, irritable child actors and drunken rambling subjects have not deterred him, nor have busy CEOs with only moments to spare. |
