On Friday, March 14th, Film scholar and critic Alison Macor lead the first of six AFS Speakers Bureau Seminars taught through the UT Community Education Division and Osher Lifelong Learning Institute. Over seventy students attended the first class. Macor explored the evolution of the local film community since the seventies, screening clips, examining creative techniques, and adding arcane behind-the-scenes knowledge to such Austin classics as the original TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE and DAZED AND CONFUSED.
During the series, “Creative Insights From the Austin Film Community,” local film professionals will explore an array of topics ranging from the historical development of Austin’s filmmaking culture to big screen special effects design.
