AFS Alumni in SXSW Shorts Lineup

A week after the features line-up was made public, SXSW has now announced their shorts lineup, and as expected, there are a number of AFS program alumni in the mix...

Miguel Alvarez, a 2006 TFPF recipient, presents his new short KID.

John Bryant will present LOVEOLUTION, a recipient of a 2007 TFPF post-production grant, in the Midnight Shorts program.

Toddy Burton's 35mm short film THE AVIATRIX, a recipient of a 2006 TFPF production grant, will screen.

Sergio Carvajal, a 2007 TFPF recipient for a feature project, will present a new short film QUINCEANERA, which he co-directed with Andrew Ruwan Perera.

David Lowery presents his short film A CATALOG OF ANTICIPATIONS, straight off its premiere at Slamdance last month. David received a TFPF grant for a previous short in 2005 and is currently in production on ST. NICK, a feature for which he received a 2007 production grant from TFPF.

Jacob Vaughan presents his new short, MR. P, which happens to star one of my favorite Austin actors, Chris Doubek. Jake, producer/DP/Editor on DEAR PILLOW, received the film's two TFPF grants in 2002 & 2003.

Congrats to all y'all!

One more SXSW-related note - Susanne Mason's documentary WRIT WRITER was just added to the Lone Star States line-up. The film received TFPF grants in 1996 & 2001 and is a sponsored project of AFS. After its festival premiere, it will be nationally broadcast in PBS in June.
